Yea! Congratulations! It is wonderful that you are getting excited, I like that you realized your excitement as you started thinking of all the freedom you had in owning a home! I wonder if you could turn this excited perspective into a fun poem looking forward to moving day!
That's so great. Congratulations. I think this makes a great series as you start to get further and further in the process. I also could see how it would be interesting to do different parts in different forms, like poetry or switching perspectives!
Lesley, Congratulations on your new home! I am praying that you don't have to move while we are still in the semester. Moving is so stressful and I don't want that added to your plate as you finish up classes.
What other things besides decorating do you look forward to in a home--maybe having a garage, front/back yard, larger living spaces, etc. Expanding on this would add to your piece. Plus, were there things that you didn't particularly like or care for when renting--such as wasting money (not investing in a home), noise level of people next door or above/below, etc. Adding more details will make this story more interesting.
Another idea for another writing piece is to describe the adventure of looking for a home to purchase---not sure what your process was but it could be helpful for future home buyers. Plus, I bet you will be able to write a story about moving too--packing boxes, moving truck, unpacking, etc. All the times I have moved have been interesting stories in themselves.
Moving this story out of the notebook and typing will also help you. Read it aloud, add details and check with your family if they have ideas to add. What are they looking forward to when living in a home? I look forward to seeing the finished piece. All the best, deanna
This is very exciting! Painting and getting carpet or new appliances, creating a garden or landscaping the way you want it, new light fixtures and making notes of projects to do in the future... These are all things you will have to write about soon!

ReplyDeleteI could turn moving day into a poem. I will do that as one of my 10 pieces of professional writing that I turn in. Thanks for the idea.
